Patient Questions

Understanding your commitment to a successful outcome.

How many hours a day must I wear my aligners?

For optimal results, aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours per day. You should only remove them for eating, drinking anything other than water, and your hygiene routine.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Like any orthodontic appliance, there is a short adjustment period. Most patients find that any slight lisp disappears within 48 to 72 hours as the tongue adapts.

Is Invisalign painful?

Invisalign moves teeth using 'gentle constant force.' You may feel pressure for the first day of a new aligner set, which is a clinical indicator that your teeth are moving as planned.

Do I need to wear a retainer afterward?

Yes. To prevent 'relapse' (teeth moving back), we provide custom Vivera® retainers to ensure your new alignment remains permanent for life.
